San Ramon, California – San Ramon Mayor Abram Wilson outraised incumbent Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan by 2-1 in the most recent financial reporting.  Wilson has now raised over $162,000 to Buchanan’s $86,000 and has $115,748 in the bank compared to just $55,810 for Buchanan.

“Mayor Wilson’s campaign is off to a great start and we are very pleased with the foundation we’ve laid to raise the resources necessary to win in November,” said Wilson finance director Judy Lloyd.  “This campaign will focus on turning around California’s economy, creating jobs, and balancing the budget.  Mayor Wilson has shown a great deal of district-wide support from grassroots donors and small business owners who care about building a better business climate in California.  And unlike the incumbent, Mayor Wilson plans to actually vote while serving in the State Assembly.”

Assemblywoman Buchanan has amassed a troubling record of abstentions since her election a year ago.  The Sacramento Bee recently editorialized that Buchanan has a “disturbing pattern of abdication of her duty as a legislator.”

Wilson’s fundraising has dramatically outpaced Buchanan’s.  From July 1st to December 31st, 2009, Wilson outpaced Buchanan, raising $105,869 to Buchanan’s $40,200.

Mayor Wilson is running to restore fiscal responsibility to Sacramento.  In the City of San Ramon where he has been mayor for nearly a decade, budget reserves exceed an unprecedented 50% of the city’s budget. The State of California is currently facing a $28 billion budget shortfall.
